Well, it was bound to happen. Wildlife art is growing up, no longer relegated only to the walls of cabins in the North. Gone are those halcyon days of a studly stag, looking out over a serene pond, eloquently applied to a piece of fine velvet. Perhaps we will be lucky enough to have lost the days of similar images ironed onto too-large sweatshirts and pillows.

In all seriousness, this book received positive reviews in the Minneapolis Star Tribune this weekend, (note: comments aren’t included in the linked article, you’ll need the newsprint copy for that,) and does focus on higher art than that timeless buck sweatshirt. If it only took just one book to free us from that imagery…
